Traffic Safety 2012-2015
Over the last 50 years, the number of fatal road-traffic accidents in Amsterdam has reduced considerably, from more than 100 victims per year, to around 15. A new piece of research by the SWOV (Institute For Road Safety Research) highlights that the number of serious injuries registered in the national database is much higher than in previous years. Following a decline up to 2001, the number of serious injuries levelled off for several years. The number of serious injuries then increased from 785 in 2006, to around 950 in 2009.
