Fietsdepot is the bicycle depository of the city of Amsterdam. It receives all bicycles that have been removed by of found by the city burroughs or the police. These bicycles would have caused hindrance or unsafe situations. The depository is not the organization that removes the bicycles.

The Fietsdepot is the City of Amsterdam's bicycle depository. It receives all bicycles that have been found or removed byCity District officials or the police. These bicycles would have beencausing a hindrance or creatingan unsafe situation. The depository itself is not responsible for removing bicycles.

Bicycle depositoryAll bicycles are stored for three months and are checked for signs of theft. Stolen bicycles will be returned to their owners free of charge, provided they live in Amsterdam. During a three month waiting period, owners are able to reclaim their bikeif they visit the Fietsdepot with valid identification and the key(s) to their bike lock(s). People collecting a bike that has been removed are required to pay 10 euros administration costs and may choose to pay an extra 10 euros to have their bicycle delivered to their home.

It is important that you know how to describe your bike - what are its unique features?Knowing this will make it easier to find your bike. It is a good idea to provide your bicycle with a special code, so that it can always be traced back to you. An engraving team regularly engraves bicycles for free at different locations across Amsterdam. Check theiragendafor times and locations.

Where is the depository?

The address is Bornhout 8, in the Westelijk Havengebied (harbour).

By public transport

Take Connexxion bus number 82 from Sloterdijk Station in the direction of IJmuiden. Alight at the Westpoortweg bus stop and walk back to the zebra crossing. Cross to the other side of the Westpoortweg and walk into the Australiëhavenweg. The SkyNetbuilding will be on your right-hand side. Bornhout is the first street on your right. The depository is 150 metres further on, on your left-hand side.

By car

Leave the A10 Amsterdam circularat the junctionfor the S102 in the direction of IJmuiden. At the end of the slip road, follow signs for ‘Havens West' and ‘IJmuiden S102'. This is the Basisweg. Turn left after 2.6 km (following S102 to IJmuiden).
Go under the railway viaduct and keep to the right at the traffic lights. At the next set of traffic lights, turn left (in the direction of Haarlem). This is the Autraliëhavenweg. Take the first right into Bornhout. The depository is 150 metres further on, on your left-hand side.
